Say What ?????

Last night I made the mistake of saying to a couple of forty something geniuses that "the problem with injuries in the NHL is directly the responsibility of the League".

These two geniuses corrected me and told me that the problem was that players were "bigger, faster and stronger" HUH????

Does that mean they are "ALL" bigger, faster and stronger. How does that relate..... other than being the same..... HELLOOOOO

In my humble opinion the league, in an attempt to sell hockey to America, have changed the rules of engagement to such an extent that violence is an accepted part of the game. Forget fighting, it has been reduced to fondling of each other. Killing your opponent at the end board is now the object of the game.

I once watched an intermission demonstration by Larry Robinson where he described how a defenceman took an opponent in to the boards and spread his arms against the glass so as to cushion the impact and protect the opposing player from injury...... on the other hand Gary Bettman and the league have decided that this is now to be called obstruction or holding.... really.... failure to seriously injuring another player is a penalty.... where the hell are the boarding and charging calls???? Oh yeah .... it slows down the game.... talent doesn't sell.... carnage does.... according to Bettman.

Yes the boards don't flex like they did in the past but it does not change the fact that players and the league demonstrate an intent to injure.
