Thanks Fred.

What a treat to see that Elliot is still singing. Is it possible to get an address for him? If memory serves he had a voice like the lead singer of the Platters. He regularly exercised his vocal cords at "La Source" in Laprairie every Tuesday at the amateur night contest and a bunch of us would go to watch him win frequently, mainly because of his voice but also  with our assistance in the audience to seal the deal. . Since the winner was decided based on audience applause we made sure that we had enough people in attendance to swing the applause meter needle way to the right . Of course there was some self interest involved as Elliot would split his first prize of $10.00 with his supporters-- $5.00 for him and $5.00 for the table along with a bottle of champagnette(Quebec's version of Mum's LOL)  which was also part of the prize. To put things in perspective, $5.00 could buy a lot of beer/supporters as a quart only cost 35 cents in the late 50's but usually a half dozen of us would be enough to ensure the victory  Elliot also had another important talent and that was his ability to drink a full quart of beer without taking a breath. We also made some money, which we would split with Elliot from the side bets that we would make with supporters of anyone who would challenge Elliot. Elliot's abilities were also athletic as he along with Herbert Simons were two of the best distance runners in "The Park". Elliots brother John was also a track star but as a sprinter and he beat me in the City of Montreal High School Championships in Molson Stadium which he won . I was running for Westmount High School and he was running for CCHS. John

Thanks John McC
